Topeka Public Schools- Parents as Teachers has collaborated with Topeka Housing Authority with support from United Way of Greater Topeka in the Pine Ridge area to develop the Topeka Public Schools- Parents as Teachers Pine Ridge Partnership. The program is designed to serve families with children pre-natal to three and in collaboration with the Pine Ridge Prep program to provide services for children up to Kindergarten. Programs available to families include personalized home visits, weekly playgroups, weekly groups, and a book and toy lending library. The center is open 9-4:30 Monday-Friday. Two play times are provided weekly in the Pine Ridge PAT playroom (1100 SE Highland) and give children the opportunity to play with other children as their parents model play and interact with other parents.The playroom will offer developmentally appropriate experiences in art, language, problem solving, fine motor, and social emotional development. These playgroups are available for parents and children birth-age five. All playgroups will include music movement, reading, finger-plays, art, socialization and a healthy snack. Any family is USD #501 is able to attend.
Lending Library
Parents as Teachers at the Pine Ridge Partnership offers a toy lending library for families in the area. Educators will assist parents in checking out toys and books for their children that are developmentally appropriate. To check out materials please contact PAT Staff on site.
Computer Lab
A small PAT computer lab with internet access is available for families that live in the Pine Ridge Area. The computer lab is a great way to update computer skills or make a career change and is open daily! Please contact the partnership at 783-2675 if you have questions!
