PAT Advisory Board Mission:
Build community support for the Parents as Teachers program through dissemination of information and education.
Parents as Teachers Advisory Board Goals:
• Educate the community about program services and benefits.
• Provide input on future planning.
• Assist the program in identifying community resources, funding, in-kind contributions and volunteers.
• Represent Parents as Teachers in the community regarding its goals and accomplishments.
• Assist program leadership and staff with advice and support when asked
Duties:
• Attend four meetings per year.
• Participate on committee work relating to the program’s needs.
• Keep current on the program’s status via meetings and/or materials mailed by Parents as Teachers staff.
• Offer advice for improving and expanding the program.
• Represent Parents as Teachers in the community.
• Nominate future Parents as Teachers Advisory Board members
Term:
Advisory Board members will be asked to serve a one year term; with the knowledge they may be asked to serve additional terms as needed.
Meeting Structure:
• Previous meeting agenda and program reports will be mailed to Parents as Teachers Advisory Board members within ten days of scheduled meeting.
• Standard meeting agenda will include updates about Volunteer Work Night sessions, the Pine Ridge Partnership, the Teen Program, Discipline Classes; the Fatherhood Group, Advocacy, and scheduled Group Connections. These meetings will also include discussion and feedback about problems, issues, or challenges from Board members concerning the program. Advisory Board members may contact the PAT Coordinator to place additional items on the agenda.
• Childcare will be available with a reservation.
• A light meal will be provided.
