Consider the following questions: If one flips a coin 6 times, what are the chances that precisely 3 of the coins turn out "heads"? What are the chances that precisely 2 of the coins turn out "heads"?
In order to solve these questions, we need to be able to understand the different ways the flips can occur and be able to count them. The mathematical theory that allows us to count certain combinations is combinatorics.
We will discuss different combinatorial questions and techniques and relate them to probability and other fields of Mathematics.
