Calculus is usually the first field of modern Mathematics that is taught to students in high school or college. But in most cases it is just taught as some set of rules which manipulate symbols, without any explanation as to the ideas behind the concepts of derivative and integral. These concepts originate both from Mathematical ideas (computing areas, finding tangents to curves) and from physical ideas (speed, acceleration, rate of change, distance passed). We will go over these ideas, explain what they are all about and show why the results we were told in Calculus classes are true and what they mean.
If you have been to a Calculus class before, you can come and understand what it's all about. If you have never been to a Calculus class, you can come to learn it!
