TESDA Region VII conducted a Regional Stakeholders’ Conference last September 15, 2016 at Montebello Villa Hotel. A total of 230 participants from different Industries, LGUs, Technical Vocational Institutions, Women’s Group, Indigenous People, NGOs and NGAs in Region VII.
The activity was headed by our Regional Director Florencio F. Sunico, Jr., CESO III.
The objectives of the said activity is to validate and determine skills needs and requirements of the industries and the sectoral groups and communities in the Region; identify the challenges/issues related to TVET in the area; and to gather policy recommendations and program interventions that will address defined issues and challenges.
Inputs from Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) presented by DOLE VII Regional Director Exequiel Sarcauga, CESO IV, National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) presented by Ms. Leslie Guantero, Senior Economic Development Specialist and TESDA’s TVET for Poverty Reduction presented by Executive Director Marissa G. Legaspi contributed to the success of the workshop. The participants were clustered into 3 groups:
· Group A for Industries
· Group B for TVIs, TVET Association
· Group C for LGUs/CTECs, Women’s Group, NGOs
The output will serve will serve as input to the Regional Technical Education and Skills Development Plan for Region VII for CY 2017-2022.
