Math - Not memory but the science of Patterns!
1.) Half then double
Works for any even multiplication table.
EXAMPLE can't remember 8 x 7 = 56 then do 4 x 7 = 28 then 28 + 28 = 56! This works for 4, 6, 8, 12.
2.) "Turn around facts" also known as the commutative property 8 x 7 = 7 x 8 ! You only have to know 1/2 the facts for multiplication because of the commutative property.
3.) 9 Table --Sum of Digits is 9
1 + 8 = 9 18=9X2
2 + 7 = 9 27=9X3
3 + 6 = 9 36=9X4
4 + 5 = 9 45=9X5
5 + 4 = 9 54=9X6
6 + 3 = 9 63=9X7
7 + 2 =9 72=9X8
8 + 1= 9 81=9X9
9+ 0 = 9 90=9X10
4.) Memorize the Square Numbers, in other words 1x1, 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, 5x5, etc (1,4,9,16,25,36,49....). Make pictures, understand patterns in the list, know that adding increasing odd numbers creates the list, etc...
5.) Use the distributive property to help memorize and figure out new facts: (examples: 5x7=5x6 + 5x1) 5x13=(5x10+5x3)
