Setting Up Apple ID:

This is an easy process where you follow the prompts which will appear on the screen when the iPad is turned on. A student's iPad should be set up for personal use on your home network (wifi). When it is brought to school the first time, the wireless network settings for St Francis de Sales will be set for each student. This only needs to occur once as the iPad will automatically reconnect each time it comes within range of the home or school network.

Each student receives a school email account upon enrolment, typically

firstname.lastname@sydstu.catholic.edu.au

This is generated by the Sydney Catholic School's ICT Help Desk.

Also, see the Acceptable Use Agreement which states the uses of an email.

Students are required to maintain their own passwords for this email account.

This password should be the same as their CENet password which grants them access to the CEO Sydney network.

Students can receive assistance in setting up their school email account on the first day the iPad is brought to school if required.

Apple ID is a free account you create with Apple so you can download apps, music, videos, books etc. You may choose to use a family Apple ID you have already created or create a new one for this iPad.

It is important that parents remain in control of the account and the password. Students under the age of 13 years are not permitted to set up iTunes accounts. Students are not permitted to download apps at school and should not have access to this password in order to prevent unapproved downloads.

It is at parent's own discretion if they share the password with their child.

Recommended: Do not leave your credit card details on your account.

You may prefer to set up the Apple ID using an iTunes cards instead.
