Pharmacy

Pharmacists are involved in the development, testing, manufacture and distribution of medicines and the monitoring of drug therapy.

This stream leads directly into Curtin University's Bachelor of Pharmacy degree, which is the only undergraduate program in Western Australia that leads to registration as a Pharmacist. It is taught with a hands-on approach, with a range of laboratories and facilities available to enhance teaching and provide essential practical skills.

Career Opportunities

Graduates from the Bachelor of Pharmacy have a wide range of career opportunities, with most graduates seeking employment in community pharmacies. This degree allows you to exercise business management skills in a professional setting. You may enter hospital pharmacy to help contribute to patient care in a secondary or tertiary healthcare environment and to extend your clinical expertise in a wide range of areas.

The pharmaceutical industry, which manufactures most medicines today, offers many employment opportunities. These include research roles in the development of medicines, production of pharmaceuticals, quality assurance, regulatory services, marketing and drug information.

Course Requirements

Stage 1 students must achieve at least 65% in the Stage 1 Chemistry unit: CHE01S1 to progress to Stage 2.

Stage 2 Pharmacy students require a Course Weighted Average (CWA) of at least 65 to progress to second year of the course.

Pharmacy students are required to successfully pass a summer unit before commencing in year 2 at Curtin University. The summer unit is ran by the University and commences in the first week of January. Further details of this unit will be provided as students progress through their course.

Enrolment Information

Enrolment in the Service Taught units no longer require a completion of a form. Once you enrol in the Service Taught units on the College's Student Portal, the College will advise the University to enrol you in the units on the University's system. Once they enrol you, you will be notified by the College via email.

Service Taught Units & Oasis

Some of your units is Service Taught which means that you will be attending classes with Curtin University students. You will be advised by email to activate your Oasis account and to register for the classes once you enrol on the Student Portal.

Please note - it may take up to 3 weeks for your service taught unit to appear on Oasis.

Unit Materials

College taught unit materials will be made available to you on the College's Student Portal under Moodle as soon as you enrol.

Service taught unit materials will be available on Curtin University's Blackboard once they process your enrolment.
