2019-2020 School Year:
September 2019:
Students create drawings using the Elements of Art: Line, Shape, Form, Color, Value, Texture, and Space. Students learned about how they are used to create artworks. Classes on Wednesday did the drawings, and student were given the option to take the drawings home or let me borrow them to display in the hallway for the month.
2018-2019 School Year:
January 2019: Let Your Color Fly
Students created a butterfly using symmetry and a limited color palette to create a collaborative artwork display in the hallway. Students drew and colored using markers, crayons, and colored pencils. They created a butterfly with the color of the table they sit at in class. Students worked on their cutting skills with scissor when they cut our their butterfly.
September/October 2018:
Students created class collaborative artwork of wildcats. Students learned all schools' mascot is now the wildcat district wide. Students learned about Wildcat standing for Work Ethic, Improve, Leadership, Discipline, Compete, Attitude, and Teamwork, and decorated their wildcat. They are all on display in the hallway outside the art classroom. 1st grades wildcats are on display on the bulletin board outside the art classroom.
2017-2018 School Year:
November/December 2017:
Color Scheme Quilt
1st grade students learned about the color schemes of primary, secondary, warm, and cool. They colored a square of paper and they were put together to create a quilt of color.
September/October 2017:
Tangrams
Students listened to the ‘Grandfather Tang’s Story’ and learn about tangram shape sets. Students picked 2 tangram pictures, and created a drawing with many details. They were asked to write a sentence describing what is going on in their drawing. 5th grades pictures were picked for display.
August/September 2017:
Elements of Art Hand Flowers
Each student decorated a tracing of their hand with lines, shapes, and color using markers to outline, and crayon and colored pencils to color. The hands were grouped together with their classmates to make a collaborative piece of art.

Every student created a crayon and together each class made a crayon pack.

Students helped make fall themed items to create the display.

1st and 5th grades decorated hearts to create the display.
3rd grade making symmetrical heart hands.
March/April Display Case:
Spring is Here
4th Grade colored circles for the big tree.
2nd Grade colored circles for the little trees.
Kindergarten colored and cut circles to create flowers under the trees.
5th Grade created and colored flowers around the outside of the case.
May 2016:
All students created a Minion Character version of themselves. They are displayed with their classmates in each class.
