January 2022:
Students worked on creating their Valentine's Day bags for the Spring Party in February. These bags were created by choosing different videos to watch and draw from on their Google Classroom. Students then added color to them, cut them out, and add them to their bags.

December 2021:
Students worked on their drawing skills and picked from different winter or holiday options to draw pictures to turn into cards to give to their families. Students practicing their outlining skills and coloring fine motor skills also to create their cards.
November 2021:
Students practiced their drawing skills in creating three animals: a bear, cat, and a hedgehog. Students then colored them with crayons and colored pencils. Students picked out the favorite animal, practiced their cutting skills, and then glued their animal to a background. They added leaves or snow depending on whether they wanted an Autumn or a Winter animal.

October 2021:
Students learned about Color Theory, and about primary and secondary colors along with warm and cool colors. Students completed a drawing of a three-dimensional of a pumpkin and then filled them with Zentangle designs made of lines and shapes. Students were given the choice to add color if they wanted.

Students created a Name tag showcasing their name as an artwork. Students use a preprinted grid with the letters of their name to create their artwork. They will create patterns with lines and shapes and repeat them with the letters of their name. They will then using markers, colored pencils, and crayons to color in. They need to repeat patterns with their colors.

Students worked together to create a collaborative artwork Emoji Face Flower by decorating a strip of paper with their name, lines, shapes, and colors.

Students learned about Chinese New Year and created inspired drawings of dragons. Students spend part of the month at home doing Distance Learning because of snowy/icy weather. During that time they reviewed their knowledge of Chinese New Year watching a video and answering questions on Edpuzzle.com.

Students returned to school physically in January and worked on creating their Valentine's Day bags. These bags were created by choosing different videos to watch and draw from on their Google Classroom.

Students were sent home for Distance Learning, and while there they created Pixel Art Emoji Face, Snowman, and Winter Art. All of these were made in Google Classroom in Google Sheet.

Students learned about the warm colors of Red, Orange, and Yellow along with the cool colors of Green, Blue, and Violet. They created a landscape drawing of a sunrise over water. They used the warm colors for the sky, and cool colors for the water and a little bit of land. They were not finished before being sent home for Distance Learning at the end of November, but we finished later in March 2021.

October 2020:
Students created an artwork to showcase their initials. Students drew their initials in bubble letter style. They circled it and then divided up the background around the middle and added designs and patterns with lines and shapes. They traced everything using makers and then with a paint brush they added water to create their own watercolor paints.

Students learned about 40 famous artworks from Mary Cassatt, Paul Cezanne, Marc Chagall, Salvador Dali, Leonardo da Vinci, Edgar Degas, Paul Gaugin, Frida Kahlo, Wassily Kandinsky, Gustav Klimt, Michelangelo, Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso, Auguste Renoir, Georges Seurat, and Vincent van Gogh. They compared and contrasted the artworks, and identified them into the different painting genres of portrait, self-portrait, landscape, still life, or abstract. They made predictions about the artworks. The students then used this information to design their own museums.

November/December 2019:
Students will create their own Holiday Caroler. They will create a collage by glue different papers on a background black construction paper. Students will pick out different colored construction paper to create their artwork. They will create patterns on a hat, gloves, and shirt. They will cut out their body, head, hair, hat, and glove, and then glue them together in collage form. Students will create a white construction paper to look like a sheet of music and it is added to look three-dimensional.

October 2019:
Students will create a Mondrian Animal. Students are inspired by the artwork of Piet Mondrian. Students will draw a large animal, and then divide it up into a checkerboard pattern. Students will use a color scheme to color in their dinosaurs using markers. Students will use black, along with their color scheme of Secondary Colors. They will create a dog.

Students create an artwork to showcase their name and future artwork for future hallway display. Students use a preprinted grid with the letters of their name to create their artwork. Student participated in a Collaborative ‘All About Me Mondrian T-Shirt’ Project. Each student designed a tshirt with information and drawings about themselves. They then colored them in and cut them out. They are on display in the hallway near the library.

Students worked on creating a mosaic of squares we called Pixel Art. They picked out a design and colored it with a plan, and then use squares of color to glue on their plan.

Students created a recycled art project by reusing a plastic #6 type sheet. They drew on it with Sharpies, and then Mrs. Naugle shrunk it using a craft oven. It was turned into a keychain.

Students have been working on a Famous Artwork packet. Students learned about the artworks:

The Parthenon by the Greek Culture
Students made prediction of what they think is happening in the artworks. They learned about the artists, art movements, and history during the time of the artwork was created. Students then created their own version of the artworks by coloring in with crayons and colored pencils.
February 2019:
Students created a Valentine's Day bag for their Spring Party on Valentine's Day. Students used collage technique to glue paper on their bags to create a Valentine's Day character. They need added drawings to the back of the bag.

Students created a collage of paper where they learned about foreground, middle ground, and back ground. Students learned about overlaying, and worked on their cutting and gluing skills. Students added drawings to their paper to create a Winter Scene.

November:
Students learned about Color Schemes of Primary and Secondary color schemes. They completed a worksheet on color schemes and worked on their fine motor skills of coloring inside the lines. They also did practice drawings of dinosaurs to use in a future project.
October:
Students learned about the Elements of Art including line, shape, and color. Students used lines and shapes to create patterns and designs along with their first, middle, and last initials to create an artwork. They added marker to their patterns and design and then by adding water they created a watercolor effect.

While Mrs. Naugle was out on Maternity Leave students worked on creating a collaborative artwork with their classmates. They learn about how Ponca City is now all Wildcats, and they decorated the Wildcat logo. It can be found on display in the hallway. Also while Mrs. Naugle was out they learned about Landscapes and Still-Life drawings/paintings. They created their own Landscapes and Still-Life drawings by playing an academic game called Roll-A-Landscape and Roll-A-Still-life where the chance of the rolling of the dice helped them create their artworks.

Students have been working on creating a collage of paper to decorate a bag for their Valentine's Day celebration coming up next month.

Students created a Gingerbread Paper Bag House. Students learned about three-dimensional form in their drawings and how when you stuff the bag with paper it becomes a sculpture. Students outlined their drawings with markers and colored in with crayons and colored pencils.

Students created a Analogous Colored Pumpkin Patch Collage. Students learned about the analogous color scheme of orange, red-orange, and yellow-orange. They learned about a collage is created by gluing different papers together. They painted a pumpkin and created a 3-dimensional cat with paper.

Students worked on creating an artwork to showcase their name. Students created a fish drawing with their name. They outlined their pencil lines with crayon and painted over them with watercolors to create a crayon resist painting. August 2017:
Students will work collaborative to create a Hands Flower. Each student will trace their hand and create designs inside their hand. Students will use lines, shapes, color, value, texture, and space to create their design. They must use lines to create a stripe pattern in one of their fingers, and use shapes to create a pattern in another finger. They must include their name on the thumb of their hand. Their hand will be put together with the other students in their class to create a 3D like flower that will be put on display in the hallway.

Students have learned about recycled art and have created a hand print key chain. We recycled the lid from the yogurt/fruit tray at lunch. We traced their hands, added their name in the palm, and colored some patter/design using permanent markers. The plastic was then shrink by Miss Becker in a craft oven, and a jump ring and split ring were added to make it a key chain.

Students have been working on creating a Chinese Lantern. They learned about the Chinese calendar, culture, and zodiacs. They created a watercolor painting using warm and color colors, and drew their Chinese zodiac on top. Then we created a 3D Lantern with the paper with a hanger.

Students have been working on creating a 'tasty' collage painting of Ice Cream cones. They learn about colors including primary and secondary colors. They learned how to mix paint to create secondary colors of orange, green, and violet from the primary colors of red, yellow, and blue. They also created a background painting using secondary colors. They used glue and scissors to create the collage along with Sharpie markers to outline and add details to their Ice Cream cones.

Students have been working on creating a collage snowman sun catcher. Students used wax paper and construction paper with added decoration of glitter to create a winter inspired artwork.

Students will create their own architecture drawing inspired by artist Paul Klee. They will learn about the artist Paul Klee and his architecture artwork. Students will use pencil to draw, and oil pastels to color. Students will create a city scape.

Students worked on a collaborative artwork as a class creating a paper quilt. Each student received 1/4 of a heart to decorate using lines, shapes, and colored using markers to outline, and crayons and colored pencils to color in. The paper pieces were taped together to create hearts that were grouped together into paper quilts.

Student have been working on creating a Foil Bas Relief. They learned about sculputure and bas relief. They created it using mat board, yarn, and glue then colored the designs with permanent markers.

Students worked on creating a collaborative artwork of their class in Minion form. It will be on display during May in the display in the hallway outside the art classroom. Students have also finished up a Pop Art drawing they have been working on off and on since November.

Students worked on creating their own Kandinsky Abstract drawing with the use of shape stencils and a ruler. They then practice their outlining skills with markers, and fine motor skills of coloring in with crayons.

Students started creating a Pop Art Painting inspired by Andy Warhol. This was put on hold to create a Winter Snow Globe. Students learned about three-dimensional art, and how to create landscape using a foreground and background.

Students have complete their second project of the year, a Picasso Self-Portrait. Each student created a Pablo Picasso inspired artwork of themselves. Students learned about Pablo Picasso and the Cubism art movement.

At the beginning of the school year the students will be participating in creating a collaborative piece of artwork with their classmates. Each student will receive a crayon template to color using their favorite color and any other colors they want. See my example below. The students crayons will be put together in a crayon pack and be on display in the hallway outside the art room.
