Our parish of Becontree: St Mary is committed to safeguarding children, young people, vulnerable adults, and victims of domestic abuse. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). The PCC has adopted the Church of England’s policies and best practice on safeguarding which may be found on the Church of England’s website: https://www.churchofengland.org/more/safeguarding.
Our Diocese of Chelmsford’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the PSO, Emilia Tejuoso, at church or by email: safeguarding@stmarysbecontree.org.uk or the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor, Amanda Knight, on 01245 294477 or by email aknight@chelmsford.anglican.org
If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services.
