Accelerated English I and II

2 Semesters: 2 English credits (covers St. Edmond English I and II courses in one year)

Pre-requisite: Completion of Edgenuity summer course with final score of at least 70%

*Pre-requisite for Accelerated English II: Completion of Accelerated English I with at least a 70% semester 1 average

This course is the accelerated second course in the progression of required classes in fundamental language arts skills and concepts and serves as a prerequisite for most elective English classes. It  focuses upon highly rigorous literature including works from the continuously evolving literary canon of modern and classic works, as well as college-level writing and speaking. This course will move rapidly and involve constant, sometimes considerable work outside of class. Units covered include literature from a variety of literary time periods and genres, poetry, research and analytical compositions, and speech activities.
