Organizing Your School Yearbook Project

Knowing all of the project steps in advance helps you stay organized and on top of deadlines.

Define a Yearbook Theme and Complete the Ladder Diagram

• Brainstorm yearbook theme ideas.
• Determine the order of your pages by using the ladder diagram.
• See attached ladder at the bottom of this page.

Take Yearbook Photos and Write Content for the Yearbook

• Assign photographers to events and ask them to take notes on what they’re photographing.
• Assign editors to write stories, headlines and photo captions for each section of the yearbook.

Design Yearbook Pages

• Select templates for each section.
• Alter existing templates to fit your needs.
• Add photos, text, and creative elements to the page.

Review and Submit Yearbook Pages

• Review pages for typos before they’re submitted.
• Make sure people’s names are correct throughout the yearbook.
• Submit the yearbook pages by your deadline.
