Countries represented at SIS with a large number of students are suggested to contribute two types of items to sell, although more are always welcome. All contributions are appreciated. Please let the PTA know what you plan to donate so we can plan accordingly.

February 3, 2016

Welcome to the updated PTA Website! We hope that this will be a resource for Parents and Teachers for up-to-date information on upcoming PTA activities and ways in which you can contribute to and support SIS through the PTA.

We are now well into the second semester at SIS, and here are a few PTA activities to look forward to in the near future:

    • The PTA Committee is organizing a Chinese New Year Celebration lunch for the PTA at the school on Friday, February 12 to coincide with the SIS Lion Dance that will take place later the same day. The event will be catered and tickets will cost 100,000 rupiah per person. Please contact the SIS reception at 62-31-741-4300 if you are interested in attending the lunch. We look forward to seeing you in your traditional dress (or, in red!).

    • The American PTA bake sale will also be held the morning of February 12. A reminder will be send home with your child to bring in money to purchase baked goods.

    • The PTA is taking a look at the the lunches offered by the vendor at the SIS canteen and looking at options for adjustments to the menu. Stay tuned for more details.

    • The PTA will support the SIS-hosted IISSAC basketball tournament from February 26-28 by providing lunches for the coaches and selling refreshments. We are looking for food donations for the refreshment table.

    • ALSO COMING SOON... PTA Field Trip in March.

About the PTA:

The Surabaya International School (SIS) enjoys an active Parent-Teacher Association (PTA). Led by a core group of parents who are actively involved in their child/ren’s education, the PTA acts as a channel of communication between parents and teachers on issues affecting the school and students.

The PTA also supports many extra-curricular and social activities that bring the SIS community together, including the Festival of Nations celebration held in the first semester, and the Spring Fair held in the second semester. For new parents, the PTA offers a welcome coffee morning at the beginning of the school year, and its members are always available to provide advice and information.

There are three permanent positions in the PTA: President, Secretary and Treasury. Members are nominated at the start of the school year and hold the position for 12 months. The PTA can be contacted at pta@sis.sch.id.
