At SHU, students are required to take one course in their major designated as a writing-intensive course. These courses are in addition to those the first-year writing program. Faculty teaching these classes are well-informed about writing in their fields, and focus writing instruction and assignments around these forms of writing. These courses give students the opportunity to learn and practice the writing they will be doing in their careers.
Our Writing Center supports these courses by being knowledgeable in writing in various disciplines. We talk with the faculty and do many in-class workshops.
