Established in 2005, the writing intensive program at Seton Hill ensures that all graduates complete at least one writing intensive designated course in their major field of study so that students get experience in discipline-specific types of writing.

The Writing Intensive Committee establishes and assesses the guidelines for Writing Intensive courses. The Committee provides professional development opportunities related to best practices in writing and the teaching of writing for faculty and staff. In these ways, we support a university community around the teaching of student writing that sustains the writing of students within their academic disciplines, that increases student engagement with learning about writing, and that develops student writing proficiency.
