The Writing Program includes the first year writing Composition & Culture courses (SEL105, 106, and 107) and writing intensive designated courses in all majors. The Program and its Director provide professional development support and curricular guidance for writing instructors on our campus.
Students in all majors are required to take at least one course that is designated as writing intensive in their major area of study. In their writing intensive course, students practice the writing process and draft projects that are specific to their disciplines so that they become familiar with the types and rules of writing done in their field. Examples of writing intensive courses include SMA300: Numerical Analysis (Math), SCH331: Thermodynamics Lab (Chemistry), and SED245: Functions of the Special Education Classroom (Education).
