Registration -

The five year registration period for many of Professional and Level III certificate holders will expired on the last day of the month proceeding their birth month in the 2020-2021 school year (five years after their first registration in 2016).  You will need to select a registration status and be asked whether you have completed your required 100 hours of professional development with an approved providers.

From the Office of Teaching: March 2021

Near the end of the Registration period, certificate holders will receive an email from NYSED prompting them to login to their TEACH account and attest to completing the 100-hour CTLE requirement, answer moral character questions, and select a new Registration status.

We are not currently asking teachers to submit proof of completion for the 100 CTLE hour requirement.  Certificate holders should hold on to all CTLE certificates they have received. For a period of three years after they attest, we may require proof of completion in the event of an audit. Literacy Focus - The New York State Education Department has renewed a focus on literacy initiative.  The initiative has been focused on the Science of Reading and they have released seven briefs which focus on six big skills and what they are calling high impact practices.  We are thankful for the work of Julie Foster as a trainer for the teacher center who has helped support moving us in this direction.  The work continues with the Literacy committee to move us towards this goal by the 2025-2026 school year in grades K-5.  NYSED provided a presentation in September that provides some background on the why.  The Literacy Briefs were recently released- Link.
