Decimals Project

Mount Washington Weather Observatory

Your task is to research actual wind speed data on Mount Washington over the past 5 years, graph the data, compare the data, and make your own conclusions.

1. Specifically, find the average wind speed per month for January through May for the last 5 years. To find the average wind speed data, use the tools at: http://www.mountwashington.org/weather/f6/

2. Calculate the mean wind speed per year for each of the 5 years (during just those 5 months of each year).

3. Display the mean wind speeds in m.p.h. on a line graph or a bar graph.

4. Compare the data over the 5 years. What do you notice?

5. Present your conclusions. Remember to explain what? why? where? when?
