Geography- Students do map work learning about the geography of India and China

Civics- Students read about the government systems of both civilizations (as well as the social structures).

Economics/Causality- Students learn the economic systems of India and China, what their natural resources were and what they produced with them and who their trading partners were and what items they received through trade.

Civics/Continuity and Change/Economics/Causality- Students learn about the Great Wall of China, through which dynasties it was built, why it was built, and the positive and negative effects of it being built.
Assessment: Structured Academic Controversy Assignment
Essential Question: How is the caste system today similar/different from ancient times and why does it still exist?
Resources/End Product: Using a video resource along with articles students will learn the ancient origins of the caste system and the similarities and differences to it today as well as how Dalits/Untouchables are treated today. Students will then create a PSA Infographic on the topic to spread awareness (Informed Action).
Final Assessment/Unit Test- Covers geography, causality, continuity and change, civics, economics, as well as other basic knowledge they need to know from the content standards.
