Assignments/Assessments
Geography- Students do map work learning about the geography of Mesopotamia and Egypt and how the rivers led to the development of the civilizations.
Assessments: Worksheet assignments and Google Classroom assignment
Civics- Students read about the government systems of both civilizations and how they were similar and different (as well as the social structures).
Assessment: Google Classroom Assignment
Continuity and Change/Civics/Evaluating Sources/Using Sources- Students learn about Hammurabi’s Code, why it was created, and how it affected everyone. They read the different laws and write an argumentative essay on whether they feel the code was just or unjust choosing laws to prove their viewpoint. (DBQ)
Assessments: Close Reading Analysis and Argumentative Essay
Economics/Causality- Students learn the economic systems of Mesopotamia and Egypt and how trade made civilizations better and how wars and conquering and the beginning of slavery are intertwined in trying to be the most powerful and owning the areas with the most resources.
Assessment: Google Classroom assignment
Geography/Causality/Continuity and Change/Civics- Students learn how Egypt and Kush are intertwined with the Nile river and with trade and the causes and effects throughout time of each conquering the other and how it affected their societies.
Assessment: Summary Assignment
Final Assessment/Unit Test- Covers geography, causality, continuity and change, civics, economics, as well as other basic knowledge they need to know from the content standards.
