  1. Geography- Students use the textbook to analyze how our environment affects humans both positively and negatively and how we affect our environment in both positive and negative ways.

Assessment: Exit Slip assignment


  1. Multiple Perspectives/Evaluating Sources- Students read an article that gives multiple viewpoints on how early humans might have migrated to the Americas. They evaluate the perspectives and then analyze which they believe in more and why.

Assessment: Google Classroom Assignment


  1. Continuity and Change/Causality- Students learn the changes in types of early humans throughout time and what caused them (brain size and types of tools from Paleolithic to Mesolithic and Neolithic eras).

Assessment: Verbal Discussions and Exit Slip


  1. Causality/Geography/Continuity and Change- Students read about the Ice Ages and Early Migration and how they are related. How the Ice Age caused humans to migrate and change the way they live and how they adapted to their environments in order to survive.

Assessment: Google Classroom Assignment


  1. Causality/Continuity and Change- Students learn what caused humans to change from being hunter-gatherers to becoming sedentary agriculturists and how it affected the human race and our population.

  1. Final Assessment/Unit Test- Covers geography, causality, continuity and change, as well as other basic knowledge they need to know from the content standards.
