The RHHS Royal Blues Marching Band is by invitation only for GMS 8th graders. Eligibility is determined at the end of 7th grade. Band camp starts mid August and is a place where students can learn to march and perform as well as meet the current members. Rehearsals are at the high school after school about 2 days a week and the majority of the performances occur Friday nights and Saturdays throughout the Fall season. Some events occur during the winter and spring seasons. This is an excellent opportunity for 8th graders who love playing their instrument and are interested in marching band because it prepares students for high school both socially and academically. Their performance skills and confidence will improve a great deal! Students who have joined the marching band in the past have become great leaders in the GMS band.
Any GMS student joining the RHHS marching band must maintain their grades and commitment to the GMS Band and academic classes. GMS takes first priority. Any student not maintaining their responsibilities at GMS will be removed from the RHHS marching band.
