Attendance required at all rehearsals, instrument lessons, and performances
You need to rent or own an instrument that is in good working condition. You are also responsible for instrument supplies such as reeds, oil, and slide grease. Please keep a copy of your instrument serial number at home. Percussion students need to own drum sticks and mallets in addition to having a drum kit that contains both a drum pad and bells. Please be sure to label all cases and drum sticks/mallets with your child's name.
Lesson Books required for 7th & 8th grade brass, woodwind, & bell players are Standard of Excellence Book 2 and Standard of Excellence Book 3.
7th & 8th grade percussion players need Alfred Drum Method Book 2.
Advanced students have the option to prepare and audition for the CMEA Northern Region Music Festival (January). Students also have the opportunity to audition for and play in the GMS Jazz Band. Auditions occur in June. See the Jazz Band page for more information.
All 7th & 8th grade band students will participate in the Winter Concert (January), Wolfpack Hockey Game performance at the Hartford XL Center (end of January). Fantastic Music Festival (May) and Spring Concert (May).
