You need to rent or own an instrument that is in good working condition. You are also responsible for instrument supplies such as reeds, oil, and slide grease. Please keep a copy of your instrument serial number at home. Percussion students need to own drum sticks and mallets in addition to having a drum kit that contains both a drum pad and bells. Please be sure to label all cases and drum sticks/mallets with your child's name.
Lesson Books required for 6th grade brass, woodwind, & bell players are Accent on Achievement Book 1 and Standard of Excellence Book 2.
6th grade percussion players need Accent on Achievement Book 1 for "combined percussion".
Advanced students have the option to prepare and audition for the CMEA Northern Region Music Festival (January) and participate in the Wolfpack Hockey Game performance at the Hartford XL Center (end of January). Interested students have the opportunity to audition for the GMS Jazz Band in June (participation starts in 7th grade). See the Jazz Band page for more information.
All 6th grade band students will participate in the Winter Concert (January) and Spring Concert (May).
