Course Description
Jazz Band is an advanced level instrumental ensemble offered to 7th and 8th graders. A prerequisite of jazz band is that students must be enrolled in concert band unless they play guitar or piano. Students must pass an audition in the spring in order to be accepted into jazz band for the following year. See the "Audition Requirements" page for further information. Students who demonstrate high musical ability, motivation, responsibility, and leadership will be accepted into jazz band. This is not a graded course, although students in concert band will receive extra credit.
Meeting times: during Onteam period. Schedule TBA.
Instrumentation: Any instrument currently accepted in concert band PLUS piano, bass, guitar, and drum set.
Students who do not uphold the school values of respect, responsibility, and pride while participating in jazz band will be permanently removed and placed into Onteam.
