Clinic and Concert

(Snow Dates: February 11 and 12th)

Rockingham County High School

Concert begins at 7:30pm

Information:

All-County Band auditions are open to 7th and 8th grade students. Students from all four middle schools will audition for available spots in the band. If a student makes All-County, he/she will attend a clinic and have a chance to work with a guest conductor and students from across the county. After working on music for only one and a half days, the students will perform a concert for parents and the community on Thursday evening.

Audition Requirements:

• Scales: B-flat, E-flat, A-flat, D-flat, and F in the appropriate ranges
• Chromatic Scale, in the appropriate range for your instrument
• Prepared solo (given to all students on December 14, 2017)
• Sight reading excerpt

These requirements must be played and passed off for Mrs. Pugh in order to attend All-County auditions. This is to ensure that all students who audition are fully prepared.

Before your child auditions, you should also check your family calendar and make sure that your child is available to attend the clinic and concert (and snow dates). This is a Wednesday and Thursday evening. If your child is not available for the clinic and concert, he/she should not audition.

I encourage all 7th and 8th grade students to audition. It is a great opportunity. Whether or not your child makes All-County, he/she will learn and improve a great deal by preparing for the audition. Good luck!
