Week of Respect: Oct 5-9th
The Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act (P.K.2010, c.122) requires that the week beginning with the first Monday in October of each year be designated as the Week of Respect in New Jersey. School districts observe this week by providing age-appropriate instruction focusing on preventing/remediating harassment, intimidation, and/or bullying.
Spirit Week:
Monday: Let’s #BlueUp together to celebrate World Day of Bullying Prevention! Let’s make our voices heard by wearing blue to come together and stop bullying and cyberbullying.
Tuesday: Let’s keep the peace! Let’s get groovy by wearing your favorite tye dye attire.
Wednesday: Team Day! We all may support different teams but we still have to be kind to one another. Wear your favorite sports team attire to school or your virtual meeting. Say something kind to a classmate.
Thursday: Be strong & be an UPSTANDER! Let us be strong and be good characters by wearing your favorite fitness gear to school or your virtual meetings.
Friday: Riverton School Unites! Let’s come together by wearing our Riverton school spirit attire to your virtual meeting or to school.
School Violence Awareness October 19-23rd
N.J.S.A. 18A:36-5.1 requires that the week beginning with the third Monday in October of each year (October 19-23, 2020) be designated as School Violence Awareness Week in New Jersey. The New Jersey Department of Education has developed Guidance for School Violence Awareness Week to help school districts, charter schools, renaissance school projects and approved private schools for students with disabilities comply with the requirements.
