Week of Respect 2019
The Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act (P.L.2010, c.122) requires that the week of October 7-11, 2019 be designated as the Week of Respect in New Jersey. The goal is to recognize the importance of social and emotional learning and character education by providing age-appropriate instructions focused on preventing Harassment, Intimidation & Bullying.
School Violence Awareness Week 2019 N.J.S.A. 18A:36-5.1 requires that the week beginning with the third Monday in October of each year (October 21-25, 2019) be designated as School Violence Awareness Week in New Jersey.
Week of Respect 2019 - Riverton Respects All (October 7-11)
Kick off the week with a R-E-S-P-E-C-T song from Mrs. Park and the chorus!
Daily Morning Announcements will have positive quotes read to start off the day with positivity!
Monday 10/7: STOMP Out Bullying by wearing blue for World Day of Bullying Prevention
Tuesday 10/8: Teamwork Tuesday: Show good sportsmanship by wearing your favorite sports team attire
Wednesday 10/9: We are ALL UNIQUE: Recognize and appreciate the differences in ourselves and others by wearing ‘wacky’ mismatched clothing and colors
Thursday 10/10: Thankful Thursday - Riverton is Thankful - Wear your favorite Riverton School attire
Riverton School will be participating in a service project by creating ‘love bags.’ All donations will be directly given to Hand N Heart, a local non-profit organization serving those who are faced with homelessness.
Students in Grades K-5 will be decorating the ‘love bags’ as well as writing letters to community leaders, thanking them for their services. Students in Grades 6-8 will be assembling the bags.
We are kindly asking families to participate by donating the following peanut-free items:
Kindergarten: Milburn- Sandwich bags & Sutcliffe- Brown paper lunch bags
Grade 1: Loaves of bread
Grades 2 & 3: Variety of individual snacks (chips, popcorn, pretzels, etc).
Grade 4: Cereal bars or apple sauce pouches
Grade 5: Mini-bottled water
All donations are greatly appreciated and will be accepted on Thursday 10/10.
