Students between the ages of 2-21 suspected of having an educational disability may be referred to the Child Study Team for an evaluation in a variety of ways but generally come from one of the following:
Parents/Guardians: Parents/Guardians may request a Child Study Team evaluation by contacting and submitting a written request to Dr. Sullivan.
Intervention & Referral Services (I&RS): I&RS is a building level multidisciplinary group that provides building level interventions for students experiencing school-based difficulties.
Once the referral has been made, the Child Study Team has 20 days to schedule an Evaluation Plan and Identification Meeting. At this meeting, it is determined if the Child Study Team evaluation is warranted. If so, an Evaluation Plan is developed.
Once it is determined a student will be evaluated, the district then has 90 days to complete the necessary evaluations and conduct an Eligibility Conference. During this conference, it is determined whether or not a student is eligible for Special Education and Related Services.
