Students who are currently enrolled in and actively taking an FAV course can checkout equipment from FAV Checkout during the duration of the course. Students will have access to equipment that has been demoed to them in class, through FAV Demo, or by FAV Checkout. For the list of items that require a demo by FAV Demo’s Manager please follow this link for the list and instructions on how to request a demo.
Before students can check equipment out for the first time, they must fill out FAV's Equipment Liability Agreement Form. If you have not filled one out already, please see Rebecca Paiva in AUD 530 or visit us in AUD 130 to fill out the form.
FAV Checkout’s equipment loan period is 1 business day. For example: If you check out equipment on a Tuesday it will be due back on Wednesday. If you check out equipment on a Friday it will be due back on a Monday.
Equipment can be reserved through WebCheckout’s Patron Portal or can be checked out in-person.
Reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance of your requested pick-up time and can be made a maximum of 14 days in advance.
If a student misses their scheduled pick-up time, FAV Checkout will hold their reserved equipment for one hour. Once an hour has passed students will lose their reservation.
Students checking out equipment are responsible for picking up and returning the equipment they have reserved and/or checked out. FAV Checkout cannot checkout a student's reservation to another person without prior notice. Please email or call FAV Checkout at favcheckout@risd.edu or 401-454-6237 if you know you will not be able to pick-up or return your equipment by your scheduled pick-up or return time.
FAV Checkout cannot give out any information about students or any student’s checkout.
FAV Checkout reserves the privilege to deny equipment reservations or in-person requests due any of the following reasons: limited gear available, no record of equipment demo, overdue equipment, or revoked checkout privileges.
Students cannot have more than one current loan/allocation from FAV Checkout at any given time.
All reservations must be scheduled for pick-up 1 hour before FAV Checkout closes.
A late strike will be issued one hour after a missed return time. Students are allowed 2 late returns. After a 3rd late return students will have their checkout privileges revoked.
Do not assume you will be able to keep your equipment past its return time. Please remember that classes and other students may be waiting for the equipment you have out.
All equipment has a turn around time of 1 business day in order for FAV Checkout to check, test, and clean returned equipment.
All equipment must be returned 1 hour before FAV Checkout closes.
Renewals are not guaranteed. Do not assume you will be able to keep your equipment past its return time. Please remember that classes and other students may be waiting for the equipment you have out. FAV Checkout reserves the privilege to deny equipment renewals due any of the following reasons: limited equipment availability, overdue equipment, or revoked checkout privileges.
All equipment renewals can be done by emailing favcheckout@risd.edu, calling us at 401-545-6237, or in person at FAV Checkout. Checkouts can be renewed once for a maximum of 1 business day based on equipment availability.
Renewals cannot be made after your checkout’s return time has passed.
If students would like to request a longer checkout length they can fill out the Extended Equipment Reservation Request Form which is avalible from FAV Checkout in AUD 130. The Extended Equipment Reservation requests will be granted at the discretion of the student's FAV Class Professor and FAV Checkout’s Manager. The Equipment Reservation Request Form is not intended to request renewals or extensions on gear that is currently checked out.
Students are liable for the theft of, loss of, or damage to equipment they have borrowed from FAV Checkout. It is your responsibility, as stated in the Liability Agreement Form, to go over your equipment upon checking it out to ascertain that all pieces of the kit are present and working.
As per the Liability Agreement Form, if you incur loss or damage to equipment, do not conceal the loss or damage let us know before you return the gear or at the time you are returning the gear.
You will be charged for any loss or damage.
Insurance is required for checking out equipment during any school breaks. FAV Checkout does not checkout equipment over Summer Break.
