See how the seemingly impossible is achieved with BlocksCAD, a web-based 3D modeling tool! In this class, you will learn the foundations of coding to create digital files and transform them into real, everyday objects! You will manipulate simple geometric shapes in a three-dimensional environment to make lots of amazing projects. As you build upon introductory programming concepts such as loops and sequencing, you will be able to make personalized designs like a keychain, fidget toy, or robot. Coding doesn’t have to be complicated, come join the fun and get creative with BlocksCAD!

Each student will receive one complimentary 3D print of their choosing. After class concludes, BlocksCAD will print the selected design for eventual pick-up. The instructor will also provide Chromebooks for students to borrow during each class session.

If you’ve got the general concepts of 3D printing down, join us to learn more! Take a deeper dive into exploring the world of computer-aided design with BlocksCAD! In this class, you’ll strengthen your computational thinking skills while creating more complex 3D models. Using brand-new design tools, you’ll investigate advanced coding techniques, such as variables, modules, and logic statements. You’ll design unique projects such as art stencils, cookout foods, and exterior landscape features fit for a 3D pool party! You’ll also collaborate with your friends, working together to solve real-world mathematical problems. 

This class is intended for students who have participated in a BlocksCAD class at least once before, or have prior coding experience.

Get your pickaxe and shovel ready, and get crafting! If you love all things Minecraft, this class is for you! With the BlocksCAD software, you will manipulate simple 3D shapes to transform them into your favorite Minecraft objects and characters! You’ll use a colorful menu of coding commands called “blocks” to adjust your design and make it your own. This will be a highly interactive course where you will learn primarily by building, eventually turning a series of cubes into a fearsome Creeper or friendly Axolotl. Through short in-class challenges, you will dabble into fundamental areas of math, design, and computer science. You will finish the class with several projects that you can continue to access and show off at home, or import into Minecraft! And, one of your designs will be brought to life using a 3D printer!

Bring your ideas to life with SOLIDWORKS Apps for Kids, a digital platform that introduces students to 3D design and engineering. In Apps for Kids, you will use a suite of design tools to push, pull, and prod 3D models to sculpt them as you would in real life with Play-Doh! Be as creative as you want, and draw right onto your 3D models, or decorate them with stickers! You’ll make projects such as rocketships, airplanes, and wearable accessories, and learn skills in 3D printing and general computer technology. Students will finish the class with several projects that they can continue to access and show off at home.

The instructor will provide Chromebooks for students to borrow during each class session.
