Repairs
Parents should NEVER attempt homemade instrument repairs. Minor things (like replacing strings or a fallen bridge) can be done at school by Mrs. Gibbs. Anything that involves GLUE or carving should be left to the professionals; repairs of this sort made at home usually damage the instrument permanently, costing parents more than they hope to save. Most music stores that rent string instruments have luthiers. Stores usually send instrument repairs away to luthiers who work independently from the music store. If your instrument repair is not covered by the music store, it is faster to go to a luthier yourself.
