PRACTICE STRATEGIES:
Step 1. Play through something you know really well, like to play, and sound good on to warm up!
Step 2. Play a scale, tetrachord, or other technique exercise to focus on proper playing technique.
Step 3. Play all the way through (no matter how great or awful it sounds) the piece of music you are practicing.
Step 4. Find 1-3 spots (1-4 measures in length) that you are struggling with. Go through your drill with each spot until you can play it all the way through without stopping or making a mistake!
Step 5. Play the entire piece again! Did you make any mistakes? Yes, repeat step 4. No, ON TO THE NEXT PIECE!
Step 6. Repeat Steps 3-5 with your next piece!
