Instrument Rental Information

Richland 2 Orchestra Instrument Guidelines

• All instruments must be on the R2 Approved Instrument List or approved by Mrs. Gibbs.

• The most affordable option is to rent from a local string instrument dealer. 

• Most music stores are offering online rentals with free school delivery

Violins & Violas

• • Rent or buy from a local music store.

  • Carry instruments to and from school daily.

  • A cubby will be provided for storage during the school day.

Cellos & Basses

• • Rent or buy a home instrument from a local store or, if available, from ELW.

  • ELW rental: $100/year (cello) or $120/year (bass) + sign the At-Home Use Contract.

  • Cannot be carried on the bus.

  • A school instrument will be provided for classroom use after signing the School-Owned Instrument Use Contract and paying the $40/year maintenance fee (fee is waived for students with an 

• NEVER use online services, such as eBay or Amazon, to purchase instruments.  

• Colored instruments and poor quality instruments that do not meet the Richland 2 approved instrument criteria are strictly prohibited.
