Syndicate Names

Ngaa ingoa Maaori moo ngaa syndicates:

Te Awa: The River

Refers to the first level, i.e. those closest to Papatuuaanuku. Our Junior Syndicate who are just beginning on their journey and need “more” scaffolding and support.

Maunga: The Mountain

Refers to the second level, i.e. those beginning to make more progress as they move through their learning and begin to take on harder and higher tasks. Our Middle Syndicate.

Rangi: The Sky

Refers to the third level, i.e. those who are like birds or stars and are ready to fly. They have good, strong foundations and are confident to use their skills out in the world. Our Senior Syndicate.


The use of Te Awa and Maunga are also a reference to Whakapapa and linking back to physical, spiritual and ancestorial ties. We are all connected but unique and proud of who we are and where we come from.
