MassCore
Developed by a statewide group of education and career professionals. It is a recommended program of study that Massachusetts high school students need to prepare for college and careers. MassCore courses should be rigorous, engaging and based on approved Massachusetts Curriculum. The MassCore requirements vary slightly from Pittsfield High School’s graduation requirements, as outlined in the grid, below. Meeting MassCore requirements is a goal for all Pittsfield Public School students; however, students may graduate without meeting all MassCore requirements, as long as they meet the district graduation requirements. Starting in the year 2016, students wishing to attend a Massachusetts 4 year university must have completed the MassCore curriculum to be eligible to apply for admission.
