MTH 095 credit can be earned during Advanced Algebra II. A student's grade for BOTH semesters is averaged. Sign up for Spring term at MHCC.

If you sign up for dual credit you may NOT retake tests, but optional tasks are available to show your learning and to improve your grade.

Should you sign up for dual credit for MTH 095 (Advanced Algebra II)?

That depends on your future plans...

    • The Oregon Promise grant (https://www.mhcc.edu/oregonpromise/), which applies only to community colleges, awards to each qualifying student 90 credits. Students should keep this number in mind when they select their classes because any dual-credit courses they take will draw from these 90 credits.

    • Students who successfully complete dual-credit MTH 095 (Intermediate Algebra with Right Triangle Trigonometry) don't need to take the community college entrance exam in mathematics. MTH 095 also meets or exceeds the math requirement for a significant number of career and technical programs at Oregon community colleges.

    • Since classes below 100 level are not considered college-level courses, MTH 095 is not transferable to a four-year college.

    • If a student chooses to enroll in dual-credit MTH 111/112 Pre-Calculus or MTH 243/244 Statistics at SHS, they need not enroll in MTH 095. Instead, they could save their Oregon Promise funds for future courses at the community college.

    • If successfully completed in a high school or a community college, MTH 111/112 or MTH 243/244 is transferable to a four-year college.
