Europe in everyday life

We are all living in Europe, the European Union connects many different countries. Starting off with euro. The euro is a common currency in EU, although not all countries have adopted it. When you are travelling, you do not have to change your currency. Also it is accepted in countries where the euro is not used, because it is a strong gloal currency. The second aspect why the EU connects us is travelling. We are able to travel almost in every European country freely, thanks to the Schengen Agreement. There are no long border controls, which makes travelling easier and quicker. Also the EU abolished national monopolies, making flying cheaper than before.

There have to be common rules and regulations to make internal market better. The common rules are also needed for safety. The police forces in the EU work closely together so all police forces have access to information about serious crimes and criminals. We all need to have safe environment to live a full life. That is why the EU has commonn standards to ensure that the produced food is safe and the water we consume is drinkable. Because the EU has forced manufacturers to lable their foods, we know what ingredients they have.
