Explore the Old Connecticut Path along Auger Brook in Thompson, CT. The frozen world along the Auger Brook is transformed into a magnificent cascade in spring. A short walk along the Quinebaug River to Auger Brook leads to a hidden treasure!

Plan your own visit to explore this gem located in The Last Green Valley National Heritage Corridor http://thelastgreenvalley.org/ on the banks of the national scenic Quinebaug River. The walk begins on Brickyard Road in Thompson, CT. The 0.9 mile loop leads along the Quinebaug River to Auger Brook, then up hill along the brook to the mill site. Return along Fabyan and Brickyard Roads. The walk is all within land preserved by the US Army Corps of Engineers as part of the West Thompson flood control dam. 1. Quinebaug River Crossing

It is possible to walk along the west bank of the Quinebaug River as seen in the "Quinebaug River Crossing" video. The trail within the Corps of Engineers property is not marked, but follows cart roads and Auger Brook. A walk along the river leads to the places where it would be possible to cross the river today. You can also enjoy the beauty of the cascade along Auger Brook and visit the old mill site at the top of the falls.
