The best way to rediscover the Old Connecticut Path is to visit places along the Path and take time to walk in places where imagination allows you to see a pioneer's world. You are invited to experience the Old Connecticut Path for yourself through some of the road tours and walks to favorite places along the Path. Set out on your treasure hunt to discover the "pearls" of the Old Connecticut Path!

OLD CONNECTICUT PATH DRIVING TOURS
Tours along country roads lead to special places along the Path. A link to Google Maps with turn-by-turn directions is provided for each tour. Points-of-Interest will be highlighted. For those who wish to follow the approximate route of the Path by road, the crossing points of the Path will be marked. The tours travel through countryside bypassed by highways on roads where a slower pace allows enjoyment of the land.Don't be afraid to get lost! New for iPhone users, driving tours along the route of the Old Connecticut Path spoken turn-by-turn directions with additional points of interest are now being added. The driving tours will also include directions for the historical societies and libraries along the Path where family history resources may be found. Also included will be places to walk along or near the corridor of the Connecticut Path. Target date for completion is spring 2014. WALKS
Walks provide opportunity to get out of the car and explore sections of the Old Connecticut Path that are open to the public. The walks enter the woodlands to reach special places along the Path. The walks have different levels of difficulty. Information on the walking conditions and distance will be provided so that you can decide which walks may be right for you.Walks will be organized by towns. Tours by road will reference to the walks as points of interst along the route of the tour. Simple maps, links, and, where possible, GPS tracks will be provided. While some walks may give you the feeling of being in remote places, all walks are within 1.0 mile of a road or access point. With any walks, precautions should be taken.
1. Know your capabilities and limitations.
2. Plan ahead. Know the general area that you will be traveling in.
3. Have a map, trail guide and cell phone.
4. Protect yourself against pests (mosquitoes, ticks) with repellant spray.
5. While most walks follow cleared paths or roads, ticks are present in the woods. Check for and remove any ticks after walking.
6. Bring water, snacks and your camera.
7. Help preserve these places for others. Carry out what you carry in.
