Cadet's of the battalion provided Exhibition Teams, Color Guards and Honor guards in observances at South Elementary, the Freshman Campus, Okeechobee High School, Veteran's Park (Honor Guard at Veteran's Park only), Silver Palms RV Park and Golden Corral. The day was a huge success due in large part to the hard work of our Cadet's and the support of OHS Faculty and students who assisted us with set up for the OHS assembly. 5/19/2015 - Service Learning Projects. As we round out the 2014-15 school year out cadets are involved in planning and executing service learning / community service projects in their local community. Through this portion of the curriculum the cadets not only apply some of they skills they have learned throughout the year, they also give back to their community. Some of the community projects conducted so far this year include volunteering at Arnold's Wildlife to assist staff in building an animal enclosure, assisting with grounds projects at Real Life Children's Ranch in Okeechobee and collecting clothes for the less fortunate in the local community. The link below will take you to a few photo's taken at these projects.
4/20/2015 - Military Ball - On 18 April 2015 the Okeechobee Brahman Battalion conducted it's Annual Military Ball. Our Guest Speaker was Mr. Ken Pruitt the current St. Lucie County Property Appraiser and a former long standing State Representative and State Senator from St. Lucie County. The Ball was attended by the Principal Ms. Toni Wiersma and numerous other Distinguished and Honored Guests. The ball was a huge success as was evident by the numerous positive comments received by the Senior Army Instructor and Army Instructor from those in attendance. We want to thank all our guests that honored us by attending this event. Some photos from the event can be found at the link below.
6/9/2014 - The Okeechobee Brahman Battalion and the Port Saint Lucie High Jaguar Battalion conducted a one day adventure / training / summer camp on 09 JUN 2014 at the Florida Institute of Technology 18 ACRE Challenge Course. The grueling day of training experienced by out cadets was designed and planned Florida Institute of Technology (FIT) Cadre with input from JROTC Cadre from Okeechobee and Port Saint Lucie High. FIT Cadre and ROTC Cadet's also provided a bulk of the support for this event as well; for which we are extremely grateful. Training began in the early morning hours with Cadet's from Port Saint Lucie High and Okeechobee High being broken down into four teams (mixed) and participating in a grueling/timed run through the Air Assault Obstacle and Marine Corp Obstacle Courses. JROTC Cadre and FIT Cadets then took teams through the Leadership Reaction Course (LRC) which presented cadet leaders with various scenarios which they were required to work through as a team; these scenarios challenged the cadets both mentally and physically. Upon completion the Cadet's were transported to the Florida Institute of Technology Campus for a much needed dip in the FIT pool and additional water survival training. Training began with a 5 min water tread, followed by a 5 min free swim. This is designed as a safety measure to test the swimming ability of cadets and identify the weak swimmers before moving on to other portions of the training which included a 15 meter swim (cadets are required to swim while keeping a mock rifle above the water), an unexpected water entry (cadet enters water with full equipment unexpectedly and must remove equipment before resurfacing), and a 30 foot platform dive (cadet is blindfolded and must walk off the edge of a platform with rifle, upon water entry cadet removes blindfold, secures equipment and exits pool). Cadet's ended a grueling day of training at the FIT Panther Battalion classroom where they were treated to a pizza, and awards were presented to the winners of the obstacle course challenge, and individual awards were presented to the outstanding cadets from the days training as recognized by the JROTC cadre.
All involved agreed that this was a challenging day of training put on by FIT and look forward to partnering with FIT to conduct similar events in the future. Photo's from this event can be found at the below link.

4/30/2014 - 26 Cadet's from the Brahman Battalion participated in Panther Challenge at Florida Institute of Technology(FIT) on Saturday, 26 April 2014. The purpose of this event was to introduce the cadets to the Cadre of FIT, and to make them aware of the 3-4 year scholarship opportunities available through the Reserve Officer Training Corp Program. During this event the cadet's met students from other schools and potential scholarship candidates during this day long exercise which consisted of a Leadership Reaction Course (LRC), the Marine Obstacle Course, and a High Rope Course. This proved to be a challenging day of training for all cadets who were consistently placed in challenging situations which required them to react mentally and/or physically to overcome the challenge. We want to thank LTC Glassman, MAJ Lewis and the rest of the cadre and cadets for supporting us during this wonderful exercise. A photo gallery containing pictures of this exercise can be found at the below link.
