MAJ(Ret) Donavan Locklear began his Active Duty Army career as an Armor Officer on 6 October 1988 when he reported for the Armor Officer Basic Course at Fort Knox Kentucky, and subsequently served in various positions of increasing responsibility within Combat Arms units until he left the Army briefly in March 2000. In April 2003 MAJ (Ret) Locklear joined the Army Reserve as a Transportation Officer and mobilized to serve as an Operations Officer within the Army Operations Center at the Pentagon before ultimately returning to active duty in January 2006. During his career MAJ(Ret) Locklear served overseas four times. This included a tour in Germany were he witnessed the fall of the Berlin wall in 1989, and combat tours in Iraq, taking part in the Gulf War Operations Desert Shield/Storm in 1990/91, and more recently a second combat tour in Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2006-07. Most recently MAJ(Ret) Locklear deployed with the 82nd Airborne Division in support of Haiti earthquake Humanitarian Relief Operations in early 2010. MAJ(Ret) Locklear retired from active duty after 20 years of Military Service in January of 2012. Awards and decorations include the Bronze Star with OLC, Meritorious Service Medal with 3OLC, Army Commendation Medal with OLC, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Army Superior Unit Award, Southwest Asia Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon Second Award, Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kuwait), US Army Basic Recruiter Badge, Parachutist Badge and Army Staff Identification Badge.
