The Army JROTC Class A/B uniform consists of Army Blue Slacks for women, Army Blue Trousers for men, an Army Blue Coat for both and an Army Grey Shirt for both. The Women’s Slacks, Men’s Trousers and Army Blue Coat are DRY CLEAN ONLY (See additional care instructions below). This represents an added expense for all cadets wearing this uniform. The grey shirt can be washed. The uniform must be cleaned after each time it is worn.
The headgear issued to some cadets is the Grey Beret. The beret requires certain grooming standards that apply to both men and women to be worn correctly.
Each cadet is responsible for the maintenance and cleaning of their uniform. Cadets will be required to pay for any part of the uniform that is lost or damaged (e.g. improper cleaning) due to neglect or abuse.

The Blue slacks/trousers are a Polyester/Wool blend and are recommended for "Dry Clean Only" in order to prevent damaging these items.
Given the expense of dry cleaning items weekly, Hand Washing these items can be accomplished if done with care.
To hand wash, use a clean sink or basin. Fill the tub with cold water and add a small amount of a mild detergent, like Woolite. Mix until the water appears sudsy. Dip your clothing in and out of the mixture until it's saturated, then gently agitate it in the water, rubbing any soiled areas softly with your fingers. When you feel confident that the garment is clean, empty the sink or basin and fill it with cold water, this time without soap. Dip the item in and out of the water until it's no longer soapy.
To dry, lay the garment on a towel. Roll up the towel with the clothing inside, squeezing gently to remove water. Unroll the towel and move the garment to a drier area of the towel. Repeat this process until the fabric is no longer dripping, which will probably be 3 to 5 times. Then, lay it out flat to dry. Once sufficiently dry hang the item away from sunlight (inside preferably) to finish drying.
To Iron: Ironing of the slacks/trousers should be done only if absolutely necessary. Use a cool setting and a damp cloth barrier between iron and pants to prevent scorching. Also, make every attempt to preserve the original crease in the slacks/trousers.
Note: Dry-clean-only clothing should be treated as gently as possible, which means you should be careful not to stretch or wring your garments during the washing and drying process. Keep wools away from warm or sunny areas, as they're especially prone to shrinking. Avoid the dryer like you would the plague! It will likely damage the pants, causing them to shrink and lose shape.
