Safety Rules Associated with the Circular
Never raise the guard of the saw manually. The guard is designed to retract as you enter your stock, once the cut is finished the guard will return into place by a spring.
Always wait until the saw has come to a complete stop before moving it away from your stock.
When making a cut, make sure you board is completely supported EXCEPT the piece you are cutting off. The piece that you are cutting off needs to be able to fall freely, if not the lumber will bind and cause the saw to kickback.
The blade should never exceed 1/4" below the underside of your stock. If the blade is to low you will not have full control on the saw causing it to drift off your line which will result in a kickback. There is also a risk of cutting the cord and anything else that may be under the stock.
If you look at the side of the blade you will see an arrow, this arrow indicates the direction that the blade spins. At the leading edge of the saw where you enter your stock, the blade will be turning in an upwards direction.
All adjustments are to be made before the cut.
To adjust the depth of cut, there is a depth adjustment lever situated on the back side of the saw between the blade housing and the handle.
To make a beveled or angled cut, there is a bevel adjustment knob situated at the front of the saw just above the base or shoe.
