The Moon

 What are my learning targets?

I can describe the surface features and properties of the moon.

I can explain the motion of the moon through space and how that connects to how it appears from earth.

I can describe how the moon's gravitational attraction affects earth.

I can compare and contrast solar and lunar eclipses.

 How will I learn them

Starry Night: Moon Features- Students will map the main features of the moon including maria, craters, ejecta, rays, and rills.  They will also explore the tectonics/volcanism that helped shape the surface.

Starry Night: Phases of the Moon

Tide activity- Students will map the connection with the moon phases and the tides here on earth.

Moon Video Guide- KWL chart

Earth-Sun-Moon Reading/Study Guide

Starry Night Eclipse- Students will model eclipses and infer why they look the way they do from Earth.

How will I know if I learned them?
