Of Mice and Men

During the second unit of study in the English 1 curriculum, students will further develop their close reading and essay writing skills through reading Steinbeck’s classic novella, Of Mice and Men. This unit will culminate in a literary essay focusing on the friendship between George and Lennie.

Additional resources include: The film Of Mice and Men, Dorothea Lang photographs, Robert Burns “To a Mouse,” informational text from The New York Times, or similar publications; The Atlantic, or similar publications; or TED Talks, or similar web resources, focusing on dreams and plans, isolation and loneliness, society’s treatment of outsiders, and migrant/immigrant workers.
