As a critical component of Educator Evaluation 2.0 the following key points should be observed as all educators work to ensure that they meet the requirement of obtaining student feedback on their professional practice.
The results of the surveys that educators administer to students will be used only to guide conversations that the educator will have with his/her supervising evaluator and inform his or her self-assessment in the fall. The results of the student surveys are to serve a reflective purpose for the educator with the overarching purpose being the continuous improvement of professional practice.
Samples of options for obtaining student feedback near the conclusion of the school year are now posted below. Included are both paper samples as well as an electronic version of the ESE surveys. Questions about using the Google forms in your classroom not answered in this video should be addressed to a Digital Learning Specialist.
Educators are encouraged to survey a range of students of varying levels of ability. While educators have the flexibility to determine the number of students they survey, a minimum number totaling at least forty percent (40%) of all students is required.
Educators are reminded to please incorporate (at minimum) the highlighted elements of the “Rubric-at-a-Glance” that have, up to this time, been identified by the district as the “focus elements.” Make sure that any tool(s) you are using to collect feedback are aligned with the rubric.
Helpful Tip:
If you are using exit slips be sure that you are administering frequently throughout the year so that the data collected will be most helpful to you as you complete your self assessment in the fall.
