GMSTV

Welcome!

I am the Crocker Site Technology Specialist. Much of my job is to support teachers with technology. We have quite a bit of technology here at Crocker Middle School - each classroom teacher has a laptop. The laptop is connected to a document camera and a smart board. Each classroom also has a DVD and VCR player that is connected to the projector. Cable television can be viewed through the projector as well.

Each classroom has 3-4 student computers and a networked printer. Student computers in the classrooms run on a thinclient network system. Students all have network accounts and are able to access their files from any computer on campus. Through the thinclient system, they also have access to our network via the Internet at home and can work on their files located at school from their home computer (or any other Internet connected computer in the world.)

Our school has two computer labs with a total of about 50 Windows XP machines. One lab has machines capable of editing video. My job is to manage the computer labs as well as teach lessons to classes that come into the lab. Our computer labs are run on an "as needed" sign-up system. Often teachers need multiple days to do a project. They sign up for days in the lab and I help them design and teach lessons when needed.

Our school also runs the Hillsborough Educational Television (HTV) television station. We have a very nice television studio and a full time editor who edits and programs content that goes out to our local access channel (27) serving the Hillborough community. We also broadcast programing on our SchoolTube Channel. Parent volunteers from all schools in the district help film  events which are edited and placed on our channel.

I teach two elective classes at Crocker - HTV News and News Segments. Click on the classes in the sidebar to find out more.
