Young people believe that history is irrelevant to them and their lives. I try to make it relevant. In my class, I try to use innovative methods to make my lessons interactive, visual, collaborative and interesting to my students. I also seek to help ell (English Language Learners) to gain more English skills as they learn about social studies. By using technology including software, video and computer equipment, I seek to make my lessons relevant to my students. For students to gain experience and an understanding of the flow of history we will be creating digital timelines. In addition, we will be bringing history to life by creating, reenacting and filming historical characters. My students will also make video reports about history including using green screen technology and other forms of video. We have students from all types of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds (our district has 40% of their population on free and reduced lunch). Example of http://tracingtea.mvwsd.org/tt/Welcome
